Oceanic Extravaganza Dinner Series

New York - August 27th & 28th at Gloria

To put it frankly, this place BLEW US AWAY! We had a good feeling about this event series from the moment we met Chef Diego Garcia and the team at Gloria. Why, you ask? Well, they had that perfect combination of experience and humbleness. They know what they're doing, but they were also eager to learn from us about how best to make our unique dining format a success. Chef Garcia had attendees totally hooked from the moment the first course came out of the kitchen (Black Bass Aguachile - more on that below). And, when he came out of the kitchen to share his life story, it was game over. Everyone was obsessed with him, and for good reason! It was impossible not to feel moved listening to him share his journey from a poor kid growing up in Mexico and California, to sleeping in Grand Central Station between shifts at Le Bernardin, to now opening his own restaurant with Gloria. All we can say is that you absolutely MUST go check this place out ASAP before the critics find it about it and it becomes impossible to get a reservation. It's truly a one-of-a-kind restaurant. They change their menu every week, so chances are you won't be able to order these dishes when you go, but below are the top 3 courses from each event as rated by attendees on their feedback cards:

DAY 1

1st Place: Black Bass Aguachile - with tomato water, serrano, and cucamelon

2nd Place: Scallop - with sea bean, fennel, and green juice

3rd Place: Monkfish - with potato, cucumber, and caramelized onion

DAY 2

1st Place: Scallop - with sea bean, fennel, and green juice

2nd Place: Monkfish - with potato, cucumber, and caramelized onion

3rd Place: Whole Wild Red Snapper - with garlic scape lobster sauce
