Creative Catalan Tasting Event

Las Vegas - June 15th at Valencian Gold

This was our FIRST-EVER Vegas event and, to put it simply, we couldn't have dreamt up a better kickoff! We're not gonna lie, we were a tad nervous heading into the evening, as Chef/Owner Jeff Weiss decided to create a menu for the event comprised entirely of brand new off-menu creations; usually, chefs incorporate a few of their favorite menu staples as a "safeguard" of sorts in case the new experimentations miss the mark. However, as soon as we saw the beautifully-plated first course coming out of the kitchen, our fears were instantly put to rest (see the photos below!). And, gorgeous plating aside, Chef Weiss was a legit star on the mic; we especially loved the story he shared with us about where/how he learned to make his delicious bread! Huge thanks to Chef Weiss and the incredible team at Valencian Gold for setting the bar soooo high, and below are the top three courses, as rated by attendees on their feedback cards:


1st Place:  Tuna Tartare - with crab, watermelon granita, and almond crema

2nd Place:  Roast Pork Presa - with benton's bacon migas and piquillo pepper escabeche

3rd Place:  Wood-Roasted Strawberry Shortcake - with buttermilk poundcake and whipped goat's milk crema
