About

Opened in 2023, this Corktown eatery was promptly named “Best New Restaurant” by both Detroit Free Press and Eater Detroit. The following year, Detroit Free Press also named Alpino “Restaurant of the Year”, all while it became a James Beard Semi-Finalist for “Best New Restaurant.” It’s no wonder why. Chef Colin Campbell, a native of Charlevoix, Michigan, finds inspiration in the time-honored Alpine tradition of fine, hearty food, and as a result, he delights diners with a menu Eater salutes as “a subtle and delicious exploration into Austrian, French, German, Italian, and Swiss cultures.” Signature dishes include such fare as raclette, fondue, rösti (Swiss potato pancakes with smoked salmon and crème fraiche), diots au vin blanc (French pork sausages), wienerschnitzel, venison loin, spatzle, and apfelkuchen for dessert.
