Taurus Ox
Day 1: 5-Course Revisiting Laotian Roots Tasting Series
This exceptional Laotian eatery may have arrived on Capitol Hill in 2019 but it has certainly kept things fresh over the years, landing on two of Eater’s 2025 Lists: “38 Essential Seattle Restaurants” and “Best Southeast Asian in Seattle.” Hosting Chef/Owner Khampaeng Panyathong and Co-Chef Jenessa Sneva first met shucking oysters at Elliot’s Oyster House. Now, they are a dynamic culinary duo who own three successful restaurants in Seattle: Taurus Ox, Ox Burger, and the Laotian-influenced pizzeria Ananas. At Taurus Ox, they're delighting diners with classic Laotian fare like thom khem (caramelized pork belly and tamari-cured egg stewed with ginger and garlic), chicken laap (minced chicken and herb salad with lime, chili, and toasted rice powder, served in lettuce wraps), and yellow gaeng (yellow curry with bamboo, kabocha squash, eggplant, mushrooms, and basil). “The food is striking…drive-across-town good,” says Seattle Met, while Seattle Times says, “Beyond Seattle’s best burger lies even more greatness…the kind of food that makes you massively glad to be alive to eat it.” All to say, is there any question that this event is an absolute must?
