Tari Trattoria
Day 1: 5-Course Dreaming of Amalfi Tasting Series
Opened just this past June, this Amalfi Coast-style eatery in the Union Market vicinity hopped right onto Eater’s List of “Best New Restaurants in DC” Created by Francesco Amodeo, the founder of acclaimed Italian liqueur distillery, Don Cicco & Figli, Tari is uniquely inspired by traditional seafood dishes, with local and seasonal produce and locally baked bread. Coming from Italy to DC in 2005, Chef Amodeo lent his hospitality expertise to notable D.C. establishments, including Butterfield 9, Hook, Café Milano, and Bibiana Osteria Enoteca, but he never lost sight of his dream to bring the signature flavors of his hometown, tiny hilltop Fuore, back to life. Here, diners find dishes like ippoglosso (Norwegian halibut with porcini broth and mushrooms medley), scorfano (New Zealand scorpion fish with tomato broth), polipo (Spanish octopus with potato cake and celery salad), and landlubber’s delights like saltimbocca and sausage with broccoli rabe. This is an exciting addition to Washington’s restaurant scene, and we are excited to pay it a visit. Hope you can join us!
