Situ Tacos

5-Course Lebanese Meets Mexican Tasting Event

Chef Lupe Flores is turning out what may be the best—certainly, the most distinctive—tacos you’ll ever eat. Following her career as a drummer with the local bands Wild Powwers, Tacos the Band, and LORBO, along with some bartending on the side, Chef Flores launched Situ Tacos as a pop-up. Well, Seattle sure took notice of her “crunchy” tacos, first fried to a golden crisp, then stuffed (not only with fillings like guacamole and pico de gallo, but also with those that speak to the Lebanese part of her heritage, like hushwe-style beef cooked in browned butter), and then sewn together with toothpicks. The Seattle Times named Situ Tacos to its list of “Best Pop-ups of 2020,” hailing the “incredibly complex” flavors of her signature dish. Now, in a genuine success story, Situ Tacos has emerged from the pandemic with a permanent home in Jupiter Bar, the popular bar in the Belltown neighborhood. Congratulations, Chef Flores. We look forward to our visit.
