Day 1: 5-Course Modern Mid-Atlantic Tasting Series
Opened in 2019, this East Passyunk eatery comes to us from Randy Rucker, a Zahav and Morimoto alum who has been twice named a James Beard Semi-Finalist Chef. (Fitting, given the name!) River Twice was named to the New York Times’ List of “25 Best Restaurants in Philadelphia Right Now” and appears on Infatuation’s 2026 List of “Best Tasting Menus in Philly.” Its menu showcases creative, locally sourced, seasonal fare, with dishes like smoked duck, tartare of venison, and sea scallops with kabocha-brown butter puree and nasturtium salsa verde. French, Japanese, and Southern influences are all to be found at River Twice, the latter representative of Chef Rucker’s Texas background. “River Twice is a league above and beyond most restaurants in Philadelphia… you’ll have an unforgettable meal,” promises Infatuation, so naturally we are excited to visit here with Chef Rucker's right-hand man, Head Chef Jeff McConnell (of also Zahav and Morimoto fame).

Head Chef
Chef Jeff McConnell began his culinary journey at Zahav in 2019, where he developed his skills before moving to Abe Fisher. When the pandemic struck, he joined Kalaya, ascending to the role of Sous Chef and playing a pivotal role in directing special events and collaborations with Chef Nok. His career then continued with the Starr Restaurant Group, where he eventually found his place at Morimoto. In addition to his restaurant work, he has also enjoyed a successful pop-up career.
The Lineup
