Pata Negra Mezcaleria
Day 1: 5-Course Memories of Jalisco Tasting Series
Opened in 2023, this Mexican eatery in Buckhead has appeared on such “Best Of” lists as Resy’s “10 Restaurants that Define Atlanta Dining” and Infatuation’s “Best New Atlanta Restaurants of 2024.” Jalisco-born Chef Octavio Aguirre is delighting diners with such far-from-your-usual-Mexican-dishes as temporada de lluvias (huitlacoche risotto, scallops, Mexican corn truffle, portobello mushroom, poblano pepper), tacos loreto (tempura battered fried white fish, chipotle aioli, cabbage slaw, pineapple pico), and carne Sonora (grilled beef, tomatoes, onions, and queso fresco with homemade tortillas). Té Magico (a chocolate teacup, smoked crème brûlée, apple tamarind compote, and mole negro ice cream) gives you a sense of the extraordinary desserts as well. And it’s all served up in a fantastical all-black setting, from floors to walls to tables to even the plants above the bar. “A little dark, a little unexpected, and full of big flavors” is how Infatuation describes Pata Negra, so naturally, we are excited to visit here and to have Chef Aguirre share his food ideas with us.
