Oma's Hideaway

Day 1: 5-Course Inventive Southeast Asian Tasting Series

Opened just shy of two years ago, this Clinton restaurant has a night market feeling about it, as if you were transported to the most authentic—and delicious—eatery in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. Esquire named Oma’s Hideaway to its 2021 list of “Best New Restaurants in America” and this year Eater has given it a vaunted spot on its list of “38 Essential PDX Restaurants.” Executive Chef Thomas Pisha-Duffly, of Gado Gado renown, is a 2023 James Beard “Best Chef: Northwest and Pacific” Finalist. Oma’s Hideaway, an homage to his own Oma (or grandmother) whose cooking inspired him, is a reimagining of the immensely popular psychedelic pop-up-turned-restaurant Oma’s Takeaway. With a live cooking station as a focal point, diners can watch noodles being pulled, meat being roasted, and a whole lot more. There’s a host of extraordinary street food-type items like corn fritters, sweet potato dumplings, and salted egg yolk curry fries, as well as items like baby back ribs with tamarind and fish sauce caramel and a char sui platter. “Portland’s most exciting new restaurant,” raves The Portland Monthly, so, naturally, we are over-the-top excited to visit! Oh, and please note that Oma’s Hideaway will be donating a portion of their proceeds from this event to Chef’s Cycle. Chef/Owner

Born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Chef Thomas Pisha-Duffly has cooked in kitchens on both coasts, including Hugo's of Portland and The Butcher Shop and Sportello of Boston. Nominated for multiple James Beard Awards (including being named a "Best Chef: NW & Pacific" Finalist in '22 and '23) he has also been profiled in Food and Wine, GQ, Esquire, and The New York Times.

The ticket price covers the full cost of the meal.
Do guests need to be of a certain age to attend this event?
Yes. All attendees must be 21+ to gain entry.
Does this restaurant allow BYOB?
No. This restaurant is a non-BYO establishment. Outside alcohol will not be permitted at this event.
Can I bring guests/non-members to this event?
Yep! For this event, guest tickets are $85 + tax & tip, and you can bring up to 3 guests. Please note, guests are not allowed to attend unaccompanied by a member.
What is the event ticket cancellation/refund policy?
Restaurants purchase the food for our events 14 days before the event date, at which point we are on the hook for the cost of your ticket. As such, we are not able to offer refunds (or credits towards future events) for any cancellation requests submitted within 14 days of the event date. We will, however, issue full refunds for all cancellation requests submitted at least 14 days before the event date. All cancellation requests must be submitted via email to support@tastingcollective.com.
