Day 1: 5-Course Avant-American Tasting Series
First opened in 2018 in Ladd’s Addition, this popular eatery (which took the place of the equally popular Castagna) was named to Oregonian’s List of “Portland’s 40 Best Restaurants” and Condé Nast Traveler's List of the “21 Best Restaurants in the City of Roses", in addition to nabbing 2023 and 2024 James Beard Semi-Finalist nods for "Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages". Executive Chef Joseph Papas, who previously cooked for top Portland restaurants Tusk and Coquine, has taken the helm, continuing OK Omens' mission of being a culinary destination, with an inventive menu that features items like warm beignets with cheddar and honey granules, fried chicken bites with Thai basil, radish, green Szechuan peppercorns, and sour cream, the famous torito salad of romaine, corn nuts, creamy cilantro dressing, and crumbled cojita, and entrees like zaatar-crusted albacore tuna, slow cooked pork with escarole and green goddess dressing, and maybe the world’s best cheeseburger with smoked beef fat remoulade (yes, you read that right). “It’s a winner, with great seasonal small plates,” says CN Traveler, and we are over-the-top excited to visit here!
About the Host:
Joseph Papas
Executive Chef
A Portland native, Chef Joseph Papas started his career as a line cook at Bollywood Theater before joining the teams of several high-profile Portland kitchens, including Tusk and Coquine. After spending harvest seasons in vineyards and a year working the fields and cellar at Cameron Winery, he stepped into the role of Executive Chef at OK Omens.
The Lineup
