Mister Mao

5-Course Eclectic Meets Eccentric Tasting Event

Having just celebrated its first birthday in July, this Uptown tropical roadhouse restaurant from Chef/Owner Sophina Uong has been making MAJOR waves both locally and nationally, with Bon Appétit just naming it to the coveted list of the country's "50 Best New Restaurants of 2022," and Eater NOLA handing it their "Debut of the Year" Award! This is a place for fun, with whimsically-themed menu categories such as Drinking Snacks, Foods We Love to Share, and Here Comes the Chuck Wagon. Diners can enjoy creative dishes like Kashmiri Fried Chicken, Kale Pakora, Pani Puri with fiery mint water, Alabama Corn Pudding, and Backwater Duck Confit. In other words, something for everyone. A native of Cambodia, Chef Uong worked in some of the San Francisco Bay Area's most acclaimed restaurants, including Restaurant Lulu, Absinthe, and Citizen Cake, and was named Food Network's Chopped "Grill Master Napa Champion" in 2016. Eater lauds Mister Mao for its "joyful, eclectic vibe and equally eclectic menu," and we can't wait to experience it!
