Mazi
Day 1: 5-Course Modern Pan-Mediterranean Tasting Series
Debuted just this past March, this Mediterranean eatery in the South End jumped onto Eater’s list of “13 Best New Restaurants Right Now.” Mazi, which means “together” in Greece, specializes in the small plates known as mezze that are distinctive to Mediterranean cuisine. Chef de Cuisine Whitney Thomas, a North Carolina native who is an alum of Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen operation and who held positions as Executive Chef at 5 Church Restaurant in Charlotte and Marcus Bar + Grill in Atlanta, is offering inventive reinterpretations of classic Mediterranean dishes, like lion’s mane mushroom shawarma, tuna kofta, cast-iron prawns with Calabrian chili, roasted garlic, and shrimp toasts, and scrumptious desserts like tahini mousse, baklava sundae, and cornmeal ricotta cake with lavender lemon semifreddo and blueberry coulis. And it’s all served up in a handsome and sophisticated setting that hits all the right notes. We look forward to sampling Mazi and hope to see you there!
