Lula Mae
5-Course Contemporary Cambodian Tasting Event
Almost brand-new (February 2023), this modern Cambodian eatery in Clinton Hill has already landed on a trifecta of “Best Of” lists, including Infatuation's and Eater's "Best New Restaurant Openings in NYC" and Eater’s "Hottest New Restaurants in Brooklyn.” Chef Dan San grew up in Southern California and has cooked in such esteemed New York restaurants as The Tyger, Chinese Tuxedo, and Nami Nori, which was recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. At Lulu Mae (a name left over from when it was going to initially be a Southern bar food joint), Chef San is honoring the culinary traditions of his Cambodian grandmother as he introduces diners to a cuisine with which they are unfamiliar. Dishes like Sweet Petite Oysters with Koh Kong sauce and fried shallots, Boch La Hong papaya salad with papaya-shrimp dressing and lemongrass beef jerky, 50-50 Fried Chicken with Sichuan chili vinegar and tempura snow, and Duck Salat with crying tiger sauce and a lime-pepper dressing are indisputable palate-pleasers. “Unfailingly good,” raves Eater, while Brooklyn Magazine hails Lulu Mae as a “terrific new eatery.” See you there!
