Day 1: 5-Course Bounty of the PNW Tasting Series

Opened just this past February, this very special Northeast eatery hopped right onto Eater’s “Hottest in Portland” List. Built around a communal dining concept, where good food meets good company, Landsdowne Social doesn’t skimp on the good food piece of the equation. Chef/Owner Martin Pfeifer grew up in Southern California and spent formative years in Montana before heading to the Pacific Northwest, where he worked first at the fine dining establishment Quaintrelle and then set up a much-acclaimed pop-up called Aniks. Now, in a restaurant of his own, he is serving up a menu high on the bounty of the area, with dishes like tagliatelle with courgettes, wild mushroom, and hazelnut and fennel pesto, New York strip with charred spring onions and mushroom escabeche, and how about a chèvre cheesecake with strawberry and vermouth compote and hazelnut crumble for dessert? Eater calls Lansdowne Social the “new It Girl restaurant to try,” so we are anxious to sample Chef Pfeifer’s fare and chat with him about his inventive food ideas.

Chef/Owner

Chef Martin Pfeifer grew up in Southern California but lived in Montana for a spell before getting into the restaurant industry in Seattle. After making his way to Portland, where he first honed his craft at Quaintrelle, he pulled a stint at pop-up Aniks, located at Opal 28. Lansdowne Social is his first PDX restaurant.
