Iconiq
Day 3: 5-Course French Japanese Alchemy Tasting Series
Opened back in early 2017 (give or take a brief hiatus), Mount Baker’s Iconiq has quietly endured and impressed, landing on Seattle Met’s “Most Underrated Restaurants” List in January 2025 and earning a spot on Infatuation’s 2025 List of “Best French restaurants in Seattle”. Chef/Owner Toshiyuki “Toshi” Kawai is Osaka-born and South Seattle College–trained, with stints at Maximilien, Luc, RN74, Book Bindery, and more to his name. Here, he melds Japanese simplicity with French technique in a room prized for its westward skyline views over downtown and the Sound. It’s a harmony that the menu celebrates with vivid (and delicious) plates, from a feather-light clam chowder enriched with miso and soy milk; to a king salmon confit crêpe with ikura, yuzu sour cream, and a tarragon egg potato salad; to foie gras risotto; to saikyo-yaki kinki (snapper) over black rice with a yuzu-kosho chimichurri. With its Franco-Japanese focus, hyper-seasonal bent, and sunset views that make dinner feel like an occasion, iconiq remains a singular Seattle dining experience. We can’t wait to finally see (and eat!) for ourselves. Join us!
