DaVinci & Yu
Day 1: 5-Course Italian Meets Pan-Asian Tasting Series
Opened just this past February on East Passyunk Avenue, this brilliant mash-up of Italian comfort and Asian innovation hopped right onto Eater’s List of “Best New Philly Restaurants.” Chef Mark Grika had more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant world under his belt before he visited Rome and first tasted Italian-Asian fusion. The experience proved to be a true revelation, and soon enough DaVinci & Yu was born, on the site of Flannel, Chef Grika’s previous East Passyunk eatery. Here, he is serving up a menu with such fare as orange chicken parm, Korean style brisket, Italian-Asian wedding ramen, duck meatballs over udon nodles, cacio e pepe e miso, and a wonderful black sesame tiramisu or tofu flan with gochijang caramel for dessert. We’re excited to visit here and to chat with Chef Grika about that “Aha!” moment in Rome that set off his culinary adventure, and how he went about executing his vision. We hope you’ll be able to join us for what promises to be a very exciting evening!
