Daru
Day 2: 5-Course Inventive "Indian-Ish" Tasting Series
Opened in 2021, this H Street Corridor restaurant with some of the most inventive Indian food around has been collecting laurels ever since, including appearances on Bon Appétit’s 2022 List of “Best New Restaurants,” New York Times’ 2022 List of “America’s Best Restaurants,” and Food & Wine’s 2024 List of “Best Restaurants in the US”. Chef/Co-Owner Suresh Sundas joined forces with Barman/Co-Owner Dante Datte, whom he met at the acclaimed Indian restaurant Rasika West End, in order to open Daru. Here, Chef Sundas dazzles with dishes like blue cheese tandoori chicken kebab, chicken tikka tacos, paneer pesto tikka, wild mushroom biryani, striped bass paturi, lamb shank with saffron and coconut, and so much more. New York Times calls Daru “a truly imaginative Indian restaurant” while Food & Wine says that “it is one of the District’s most talked about dining destinations.” We are over-the-top excited to spend an evening at Daru and to hear how Chef Sundas’ food ideas develop. See you there!
