Casa Teresa
5-Course Revisiting Catalán Roots Tasting Event
Opened this past November in the same building as The Square, Jose Andres' exciting new food hall near Farragut Square, this dynamic eatery that features open-fire Spanish cooking with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients hopped right onto Eater's "Hottest in DC" List and Washingtonian's "27 Exciting New Restaurants" List. Casa Teresa is the newest creation of Rubén García, whose roots in the culinary world run through Spain's finest kitchens and, for the last sixteen years, in Chef Andres' Minibar. Named in honor of Chef García's grandmother, imprisoned by fascists for her political activities on behalf of women workers, Casa Teresa is a testament to her warmth, hospitality, and formidable cooking chops - and hosting Head Chef Daniel Lorente (also from the Chef Andres culinary family) is executing that mission in style. Here, diners feast on dishes like chicken and bechamel fritters, acorn-fed Iberico pork, grilled octopus, Catalan beef stew, and luscious desserts like burnt Basque-style cheesecake and, of course, flan. And it's all served up in a warm, farmhouse atmosphere created by the Barcelona design firm El Equipo Creativo. "At Casa Teresa, a veteran Spanish chef makes magic," raves Tom Sietsema, Washington Post restaurant critic. BTW, did we mention Travel Channel will be doing a bit of filming at this event for a segment they're doing on us? We're hitting the big screen!
