Casa Juani
5-Course Memories of Madrid Tasting Event
Opened this past February, this truly authentic Spanish eatery on Pearl Street in Boulder hopped right onto Bon Appetit’s List of “Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings in the US” and Infatuation’s List of “Best Restaurants in Boulder.” Chefs Eduardo Valle Lobo and his wife Kelly Jeun, an alum of New York City’s illustrious Eleven Madison Park, have built their careers side by side. When they arrived in Boulder in 2017 to lead the kitchen at Frasca, they brought that establishment to new heights. At Casa Juani, their first independent venture, conceived as a love letter to Chef Valle Lobo’s mother Juanita, or Juani, a great cook in her own right, they are delivering a menu with such Iberian delights as ham croquetas, the classic potato omelet known as Tortilla Española, gazpacho, pulpo (octopus), cazuela de carne (braised pork with eggplant), and, for dessert, flan, torte de melocotón (frangipane with Colorado peaches), and Basque cheesecake (cited on Westword’s “Six Best Bites” List). Denver Post calls Casa Juani “stunning,” while Infatuation hails it as “compelling,” so, naturally, we are compelled to visit here. Join us, won’t you?
About the Hosts:
Eduardo Valle Lobo
Co-Chef/Owner
Chef Eduardo Valle Lobo grew up in Spain, where his mother Juanita filled their home with soulful, resourceful cooking that shaped his earliest food memories. After years working in acclaimed kitchens across Europe and the US, her met his partner, Kelly Jeun—a chef whose own journey through Eleven Madison Park, and Italy deepened her appreciation for tradition, family, and the stories behind food. United by these values, they built their careers side by side, arriving in Boulder in 2017 to lead the kitchen at Frasca as Co-Executive Chefs. Casa Juani marks their first independent venture as a married couple.
Kelly Jeun
