Benelux
DAY 1: 6-Course Brussels Meets Bushwick Dinner Series
In case you didn’t know, “Benelux” is popular shorthand for Belgium/The Netherlands/Luxembourg. It is also the name of the new Bushwick bistro that pays homage to the cuisines of those nations. Think dishes like steak frites, schnitzel, mussels, all manner of sausage, the mitraillette sandwich, which is a Belgian classic made with roasted ham, cheese, and pickles stuffed with fries, and stroopwafels for dessert. Serving up this hearty fare is Chef Colby Rasavong, who trained under Chef Sean Brock at Husk in Charleston, named the “best new restaurant in America” in 2011 by Bon Appetit. Most recently Executive Chef at Little King in Brooklyn, Chef Rasavong is committed to satisfying appetites with creations that are fresh and flavorful. “The food is really good,” says Gothamist. “Definitely put it on your list of solid options.” We will be taking over the restaurant for this event, and Chef Ravasong will answer our questions and tell us all about these fine but neglected cuisines.
