A Presto!
DAY 2: 5-Course Ode To La Famiglia Tasting Series
The name of this Capitol Hill eatery, not quite a year old, is a loving homage to Executive Chef/Owner Stephanie Hulbert-Sargent’s grandfather, Angelio DelPresto, who presided over the “Sunday Gravy & Sunday Dinners” that she remembers so fondly from her childhood in northern New Jersey. All the items served at A. Presto! are based on dishes that she was served as a child, mostly prepared by her mother Sue, who contributed the recipe for Momma Sue’s Meatballs on the menu. Here, you can find risotto balls with oozy centers of fontina and prosciutto, Caesar salad with parmesan crisps, chicken parmesan, and her fan favorite, the “Sunday gravy,” which is a thick sauce made with Italian sausage and beef braciole, doled out over fettucine. A Presto! started life as a popup at District Space in Brookland, D.C. and was a finalist for a 2022 RAMMY for “outstanding popup concept.” If you love a red-sauce joint—and who doesn’t?—then you will love A Presto! Buon appetito!
