Originally debuting in 2021 as a Brazilian eatery in The Village, Big D’s sprawling residential complex, Meridian was named Eater’s “Restaurant of the Year.” It then reimagined itself and reopened in October 2025 under the aegis of Executive Chef Eduardo Osorio, a Los Angeles transplant who has devised a globe-trotting, live-fire-focused menu that has earned it a place on Eater’s List of “38 Essentials.” Chef Osorio, who launched his career cooking in the kitchen of the illustrious Restaurant Daniel in New York City, is delighting diners with signature dishes like shrimp toast, salmon crudo, chilled smoked clams, Wagyu tallow seared oysters, lamb Bolognese, duck breast with roasted cabbage and spiced figs, and what Infatuation calls “incredible cornbread.” Incredibly good desserts too, like black sesame s’mores, Vietnamese coffee ice cream, and banana bun with banana ice cream and banana miso caramel.
