About

Opened in 2019, this spectacular Spanish eatery in River Oaks has appeared on Eater’s List of “Houston’s Most Stunning Restaurants,” Houston Chronicle’s List of “Top 100 Restaurants,” Houstonia’s List of “50 Best Restaurants” and was the 2020 CultureMap Tastemaker “Best New Restaurant” Award-Winner. So, it certainly comes highly recommended, to say the least. MAD conveys the essence of Madrid, in all its sophistication and electricity. Executive Chef Luis Roger, who grew up around the family kitchen in Barcelona, attended culinary school in Spain, where he also worked at the famed El Bulli (consistently ranked one of the best restaurants in the world). He has since brought his talents to Houston however, where his menu at MAD includes such signature dishes as grilled artichokes with romesco sauce, croquettes with Iberian ham, wood-fired octopus with grilled avocado and grapefruit, assorted wood-fired paella rice, manchego cheese lava cake with red wine/raspberry sorbet, authentic Spanish churros and Basque cheesecake, and so much more. Wait till you see the dark, ruby-toned, neon-washed setting! “With its edgy décor and nightclub feel, MAD is a little bit of euro nightlife come to Texas,” says CN Traveler.
