About
Opened just a little over a year ago (June of 2024), this Polish eatery in the heart of Kensington is electrifying restaurant critics, with spots on the New York Times’ 2024 List of “50 Best in America” and Philadelphia Inquirer’s List of “76 Essential Restaurants", as well as a 2024 Eater Award for “Best New Dish”. (Namely, their pierogis.) Chef/Owner Michael Brenfleck, most recently the Executive Chef for Spice Finch, is paying homage here to his Polish grandfather with modern takes on old favorites like wieprzowina z rożna (rotisserie pork with herbed potatoes), kotlet z kurczaka (chicken cutlet with mustard beans), wędzona ryba(smoked monkfish), and gołąbki (rolled cabbage, lamb, buckwheat, and green tomato sauce). Don’t miss the desserts by the way, which range from sernik (spiced honey cheesecake with caramel and peanuts) to karpatka (chocolate pate choux with goat cheese sweet cream and cherries). Philadelphia Inquirer salutes Little Walter’s as “a heartfelt reflection on family flavors updated with handcraft, seasonality, and creative touches.”
