Opened in September of 2024, this Vietnamese eatery has been recommended by the Michelin Guide, and also recently landed a spot on Infatuation’s 2025 List of “Best Restaurants Near Union Square.” As Time Out says, “La Đồng is gorgeous.” The interior design, described as an “Asian colonial house,” is stunning with its array of lanterns, lotus-shaped lampshades, floral wallpaper, and colorful murals. But what goes on in this stylish environment is just as exceptional. Here Executive Chef Pithayakorn “Fo” Panapoi executes a menu that includes such dishes as sugarcane shrimp (shrimp paste loaf on a sugarcane skewer), bánh xèo (turmeric crepe with shrimp, pork sausage, scallions, nước chấm, and fresh herbs), chà cá (grilled whole Branzino marinated in turmeric paste), duck tamarind, crab fried rice, and so much more, including what Eater says is “the city’s best pho.” The Michelin Guide describes La Đồng’s food as “soul-satisfying,” and these are times when our souls can surely use some satisfaction.
