About

Less than a year old, Felly Bistro on Pass in Queen Village has something for everyone. The eclectic menu ranges from French onion soup to Spanish octopus to braised lamb shank. What inspired such an effortlessly multicultural approach? Well, just like the name of the restaurant (a combination of chefs/owners Felipe and Kelly Marquez' names), the cuisine here is a team effort. Chef/co-owner Felipe Marquez was raised in Puerto Rico and The Bronx. A graduate of Johnson and Wales University, he worked for years under celebrated chef and James Beard Award winner Larry Forgione. He went on to cook at the restaurant Above in Times Square with Chef Kazuto Matsusaka, a pioneer in fusing American and Asian cuisines, as well as New York's celebrated Windows on the World and Tavern on the Green restaurants. In 2015, he was called up for active duty as an Army reservist. When he left the military, he decided to open Felly Bistro with his wife and pastry chef Kelly, whom he originally met at Johnson and Wales.
