Opened in 2023, this Ferndale fine dining establishment was the 2023 and 2024 Detroit Metro Times’ “Best French” Award-Winner. What’s more, Detroit Free Press named it to their “Top 10 Best New Restaurants” List in 2024, while Wine Spectator placed Couer on its List of the nation’s "50 Best Wine Restaurants". Chef/Owner Jordan Smith, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, has graced the kitchens of such legendary dining establishments as Daniel in New York and Quince in San Francisco. At Coeur, he offers dishes that are elegant without pretension, often with a French accent and a Californian sensibility. Here, diners find such fare as Calabrian chile–seasoned mussels with a garlic scape cheddar biscuit, wagyu steak tartare with charred shallot and capers, cod with mustard cream, gnocchi parisienne, and bacon, and cioppino risotto with fennel, saffron, clams, mussels, lobster, and red pepper coulis.
