About
Opened this past September, this mostly Mexican eatery on Oak Street that draws additional from French and Italian cuisines was named to Eater’s List of “12 Hottest New Restaurants in NOLA” as well as its “5 Best Under-the-Radar Restaurants” List. Mexican-born Chef/Owner Luis Nava is the co-creator of the very popular La Tia Cantina in Metairie. At Aguasanta, which means “holy water,” he is branching beyond the cuisine of his native land with dishes like crab arancini with poblano sauce and chipotle aioli, slow-cooked brisket served in a fresh bao bun, octopus carpaccio, wood-fired redfish with pistachio pipian sauce, wood-fired grilled chicken in smoky chili adobo served on Cantonese-style egg fried rice, and more. Eater salutes the “bold flavors across a surprising menu.” And it’s all served up in a modern, bright interior whose white walls are lined with whimsical paintings, some created by the chef himself.
