About
Opened just this past August inside the Kimpton Alton Hotel near Fisherman’s Wharf, this Filipino eatery has made quite a splash, landing on Eater’s 2024 List of “38 Essential SF Restaurants,” Esquire’s list of “Best New Restaurants in America,” and—ta-da!—the New York Times list of “America’s 50 Best Restaurants.” Chef Francis Ang, who won a StarChefs “Rising Star Chef” Award and whose Pinoy Heritage was a pop-up sensation, honors old family recipes and flavors that he executes with Northern California’s best seasonal ingredients. Imagine seafood pancit topped with smoked bay scallops, skewered pork sausage served with egg yolk and cane vinegar for dipping, Dungeness crab crepe with pistachio and poached egg, and pork chop with warm apple salad, guava, and walnuts. And let us not forget that Chef Ang’s rise to prominence began with winning a Food & Wine “People’s Best Pastry Chef” award, so dessert will be something special.
