Emmer & Rye

DAY 1, 2nd Seating: 6-Course Seasonally Inspired Brunch Series

What? A menu that changes daily? Almost unheard of in the restaurant world. But that’s the way it is at Emmer & Rye, which opened in 2015 on Rainey Street in Austin’s Restaurant Row. The theme here is ‘the farmer’s haul.’ That means they mill heritage grains for pasta, bread, and desserts, source whole animals for their meat, and have an in-house fermentation program to produce their own vinegars, pickles, and brines. The team of Executive Chef Kevin Fink, newly promoted Chef de Cuisine Tim Welch, and Pastry Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph are racking up awards. Bon Appetit named Emmer & Rye as one of “America’s Best New Restaurants” in 2016 and in 2017 they earned StarChefs Rising Stars Awards. Our host for this event series will be Chef Welch, rather than Chef Fink, as the restaurant wanted this to serve as a coming out party of sorts for Chef Welch in his new role as Chef de Cuisine. We can't wait to see what he has in store for us!

It was there that he cooked at several world-renowned restaurants – Le Chalet de la Foret and Rouge Tomate.
