Elevated Comfort Dinner Series

Washington DC - January 7th & 14th at la Betty

We kicked off the new decade in DC with some soul-warming comfort food at la Betty, courtesy of Executive Chef/Owner Teresa Velazquez. Chef Velazquez treated us to 6 courses inspired by her Ohio upbringing, which she shared nostalgic stories about as she came out of the kitchen throughout the evening to entertain us. She was quite the host! With respect to the food, she served us a mix of menu staples and some new dishes that she had NEVER made before. Based on attendee feedback, it was one of the new dishes that completely stole the show - the spaetzle.  In fact, during the dessert Q&A, she informed us that the spaetzle will now most definitely be making more frequent appearances at the restaurant. Below are the top three courses, as rated by attendees on their feedback cards:

 

1st Place: Butternut Squash Spaetzle - with coconut reduction sauce


2nd Place: Betty's Favorite Desserts - cheesecake with blueberry compote and graham cracker shard & churro bites with chocolate and dulce de leche drizzle


3rd Place: Not Yo' Mama's Chicken Schnitzel - with arugula salad and mustard vinaigrette
