The dynamic team of Chef Michael Fry, Chef Jon Nodler, and pastry chef Samantha Kincaid (married to Chef Nodler) has given rise to Cadence, which Bon Appétit named one of the country’s 50 best new restaurants of 2018! Located on the border of Fishtown and Kensington, Cadence embraces an inventive and adventurous spirit that led the Philadelphia Inquirer to describe it as “an edgy, earthy atelier of intricate inspirations and live-fired cooking.” The Cadence team, who previously cut their teeth at several of Philly's most-acclaimed eateries (see their bios below), relies on fermented ingredients, light sauces that are based on natural juices, grill smoke, and always the most seasonal produce. The highly original dishes that emerge are everything you would expect from culinary professionals who have been named “Best New Pastry Chef” in 2014 by Food & Wine (Chef Kincaid) and James Beard Award semi-finalist for “Rising Star Chef” in 2015 (Chef Nodler).
